Funeral services for Doris Armour Jones, 76, of Alto, will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, May 27, at Whitfield Funeral Home, South Chapel with the Rev. Lamar Kastner officiating. Interment will follow at Yonah Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Jones passed away Sunday, May 23, 2021.
Born Sept. 26, 1944, in Lula, she was the daughter of the late Leco Armour and Polly Waters Armour. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Geneva Armour Wade; brothers, Bennie Armour and Perry Armour; and mother-in-law and father-in-law, Raliegh and Ruth Gerrin Jones.
Mrs. Jones led her life through Christ and was a member of Crossroads Baptist Church. Doris was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was known to her grandchildren as "Mema." Doris worked for Yonah Reality Manufacturing until it's closing with over 30 years of service. She also worked for Runway Fish House having served for approximately 20 years. She then retired from Merial Select Laboratories with 17 years of service.
Survivors include her loving husband of 59 years, Walter "Sonny" Jones of Alto; daughter and son-in-law, Rhonda Jones and Brian Loudermilk of Alto; son and daughter-in-law, Rodney and Julia Rae Jones of Alto; sons, Ronald Jones and Randy Jones, both of Alto; sisters, Imogene Wade of Demorest, Joydean and Jerry Martin of Cornelia Linda and Michael Ferguson of Alto, and Patsy Armour of Alto; brothers, Ralph and Faye Armour and L.J. Armour, all of Alto; grandchildren, Daniel, Chris, Jessi, Chea, Cody, Amber, Whitney, MaKenzie, and Kyson; 18 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 2 until 4 p.m. and 6 until 8 p.m. Wednesday, May 26, at the funeral home.
