Funeral services for Edith Mae Ayers Duncan, 95, of Alto, will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 13, at Whitfield Funeral Home, South Chapel with the Rev. Robert Nix officiating. Interment will follow in the Belton Baptist Church cemetery.

Mrs. Duncan passed away Wednesday, Aug. 10, 2022.

Mrs. Duncan was born July 31, 1927, in West Palm Beach, Florida, to the late Rom and Bessie Brock Ayers. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 57 years, John William Duncan; son, Lloyd Winston Duncan; and her sister, Bonnie Shubert.

Mrs. Duncan was a member of Belton Baptist Church for over 50 years. Edith loved to spend time in her garden. She was an excellent cook, spending many hours in the kitchen cooking and baking for her family and friends. Edith was known to her grandchildren as "Granny."

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Elizabeth and the Rev. Tony Kemp of Clarkesville; son, Phillip Duncan of Black Mountain, North Carolina; son and daughter-in-law, David and Nancy Duncan of Flowery Branch; five grandchildren and their spouses; and 12 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from noon until 1:45 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 13, at the funeral home prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Belton Baptist Church.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Whitfield Funeral Home, South Chapel, Baldwin.
