  Funeral services for Edwin Presley Williams Jr., 88, of Alto, are scheduled for 3 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 10, at Hillside Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Dusty Holtzclaw and the Rev. Daniel Parker officiating. Interment will follow in Yonah Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Terry Rice officiating at the graveside.

  Mr. Williams went home to be with the Lord Sunday, Nov. 7, 2021.

  Born in Habersham County, on Oct. 1, 1933, he was a son of the late Edwin Presley, Sr. and Vallie Jay Moore Williams. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Richard Morris.

  Edwin served his country proudly in the United States Navy and retired from Carwood Manufacturing Company with 47 years of dedicated service. In his spare time, he enjoyed cattle farming, vegetable gardening and restoring old tractors. Most of all, he loved the Lord and was a faithful husband, devoted father, and papa who loved his family tremendously. Edwin was a member of B.C. Grant Baptist Church.

  Survivors include his loving wife of 67 years, Gwen Barrett Williams of Alto; daughter, Gail Williams Welborn of Alto; granddaughter and husband, Monica and the Rev. Dusty Holtzclaw of Cumming; great-granddaughter, Lennox Presley Holtzclaw of Cumming; sister, Dorothy Williams Morris of Alto; brother and sister-in-law, Larry Jay and Betty Williams of Alto; sister-in-law, Rosie Barrett of Clarkesville; and several nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

  The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2 p.m. until the service hour Wednesday.
