Funeral services for Emma Laura Edwards Smith Morrison, 93, of Clarkesville, are scheduled for 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 17, at Hillside Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Barry Thompson, the Rev. Grady Walden and the Rev. David Turner officiating. Interment will follow in Clarkesville City Cemetery.

    Mrs. Morrison went home to be with the Lord Sunday, Nov. 14, 2021.

  Born March 18, 1928, in Monticello, she was a daughter of the late Homer Theron and Ethel Smith Edwards. In addition to her parents, Emma Laura was preceded in death by her first husband, Richard Russell Smith; second husband, Jim Morrison; twin sister, Anna Laura Edwards; sister and brother-in-law, Martha Edwards Baker and James B. Baker Sr.; brother and sister-in-law, Theron S. Edwards Sr. and Eleanor Edwards; nephew, Edward Baker, brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Olin Smith Jr. and Frances Smith; nephew, Olin Smith III.; and step-son, Donald Morrison.

  Emma Laura was a graduate of Monticello High School and a graduate of Georgia State College for Women in Milledgeville with degrees in home economics and elementary education. She taught school for 32 years and received much affirmation from her students over the years since that time. Emma Laura was a member of Clarkesville Baptist Church since 1963, where she served in various church roles including church hostess, coordination of Wednesday night suppers, wedding receptions, and parties. She was also a member of the Friendship Sunday school class and the WMU.

  Survivors include her niece and spouse, Carole Edwards Norris and William Billy Norris, and their children, Zachary W. Norris and his daughter, Ella Ann, and Kerri L. and Chris Moseley; nephew, Theron S. Ed Edwards Jr.; niece, Katherine "Kitty" B. Wilmot and her daughter, Erica; nephews, William B. Billy Baker IV., James B. "Jimmy" Baker Jr. and spouse, John A. Kolb; niece and spouse, Kay Smith Thompson and the Rev. Barry Thompson and their children, Micah and Courtney Thompson; Carmen and Brad Moore and their children, Cohen Moore, Mara Moore and Halston Dawson; nephew and spouse, Olin Smith IV and Ashley Smith and their children, Nona Smith, Olin Caston Smith, and Reyns Smith; niece, Laura Lynn Smith and her children, C.J. Blackwell and Jazlyn Blackwell; stepchildren, Rick Morrison, and Ken Morrison and his children, Lindsey Morrison and Tanner Morrison; friends who are like family, Lee and Ross Davis, Florence Wikle, Peggy Smith, as well as Gloria and Walter Velasco.

  The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1 p.m. until the service hour Wednesday.
