Private graveside services for Ethel Louise Broome Purdy, 89, of Baldwin, were held at Clarkesville Memorial Cemetery Monday, June 1.

Mrs. Purdy passed away Friday, May 29, 2020.

  Born June 29, 1930, in Homer, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Josie Age Broome. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Purdy is preceded in death by husband Gordon Purdy, sister Hazel Broome Brindel, brothers Marion Broome and Efford Broome, son Ronnie Purdy, grandson Ronald Purdy and son in law Reynolds Fry. 

Mrs. Purdy was a homemaker and was of the Baptist faith. She was an avid flower gardener and she liked to shop.  Mrs. Purdy also enjoyed watching westerns and Fox 5 News.  

Survivors include daughters, Ann Purdy Fry of Clarkesville, and Jane Purdy Garrett of Alto; daughter-in- law, Dorla Smith Purdy of Demorest; sister, Frediva Broome Purdy of Hull; six grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
