Funeral services for Floyd W. McEntyre, Jr., 94, of Mt. Airy, were held Friday, Dec. 31, in the Hillcrest Chapel of Acree-Davis Funeral Home. The Rev. Jim Harp officiated. Grandsons Shane McEntyre, Johnny Bush, Dustin McEntyre, Clay McEntyre, Dylan McEntyre, Clif McEntyre, and Austin McEntyre served as pallbearers. Interment was in the Mt. Bethel Community Church cemetery with military honors by the U.S. Army Honor Guard and the V.F.W. Post 4346 Honor Guard.
Mr. McEntyre went to be with his Lord and Savior Saturday, Dec. 25, 2021.
Born May 6, 1927, in Habersham County, he was a son of the late Floyd W. McEntyre, Sr. and Estelle Todd McEntyre. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 70 years, Sarah McEntyre; son, Stanley McEntyre; granddaughter, Leigh Bush; sisters, Flosie McEntyre, Ollie Bell Garrett, and Retha Dodd; and brother, Robert McEntyre.
He was a United States Army veteran of World War II and was retired from Ethicon and Midway Garage. He attended Central Alliance Church in Mt. Airy.
Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Janet and Rodger Bush; son, Tim McEntyre; daughter-in-law, Lisa McEntyre; grandchildren, Shane (Misty) McEntyre, Johnny (Jennifer) Bush, Dustin McEntyre, Clay (Malorie) McEntyre, Dylan (Ashlyn) McEntyre, Clif McEntyre, Autumn (Joe) White, Austin McEntyre, and Ainsley Steves; great-grandchildren, Alex Lauren, Malorie, Mary-Kate, Trey, Kareden Cam, Amelia, Nora Leigh, Mason, Maelyn, Skylar, and London; sisters, Doris Stroud and Patricia Walters; sisters-in-law, Betty McEntyre and Brenda Hall; brother-in-law, Horace (Mary) Slater; and a number of nieces, nephews and other family members and friends.
