Funeral services for Hazel Estelle Powers Davis, 89, of Mt. Airy, were held Sunday, Sept. 29, at the Chapel of McGahee-Griffin & Stewart Funeral Home with the Rev. Chris York and the Rev. Wayne Fowler officiating. Interment followed in New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery.
Mrs. Davis passed away Thursday, Sept. 26, 2019.
Born Jan. 10, 1930, in Braselton, she was a daughter of the late Cager and Tiddie Gunn Powers. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Herschel Davis; son, Larry Loggins; daughters, Peggy Powers and infant Polly Loggins; granddaughter, Marsha Bowden; and sisters, Dorothy Martin and Agnes Bordner. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Mrs. Davis was a member of New Hope Baptist Church and was formerly employed with Outerwear. She enjoyed sewing, cooking, canning and gardening.
Survivors include son and daughter-in-law, Donald and Joann Loggins of Mt. Airy; daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Jack Powers of Mt. Airy; daughter-in-law and caregiver, Kathy Loggins of Mt. Airy; grandchildren, Sylvia Gerrin, Phillip Loggins and Peggy Ingram Jarrell; adopted grandchildren, Kathy Ravan and Cindy Stamey; adopted great-grandchild, Tara Reems; 10 great grandchildren; seven great-great grandchildren; special friend, Regina Bell of Demorest; numerous other relatives and friends.
