Funeral services for Herman Dale Wood, 76, of Demorest, were held Sunday, Dec. 12, in the Chapel of McGahee-Griffin and Stewart. The Rev. Tim Beasley and the Rev. James Gunn officiated. Interment followed in Yonah Memorial Gardens.

  Mr. Wood passed away Thursday, Dec. 9, 2021.

  Born Nov. 18, 1945, in Danielsville, he was a son of the late Dewey Wood and Julia Davis Wood. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Eunice Ann Coalley Wood and a sister, Blondine Nelms.

  He was the owner and operator of Woods Grading & Landscaping. He enjoyed riding and trading horses, flowers, shopping trips with his girls, mealtimes, and watching westerns. Mr. Wood was a kind, loving and generous man, who did not speak badly of others. He loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them. He was always excited to learn the news of a new addition to his family.

Surviving are his son and daughter-in-law, Dale and Jill Wood of Demorest; daughters and sons-in-law, Cindy and Randy Chitwood of Demorest, Annice Wood of Demorest, and Renea and Steve Bruce of Clarkesville; step daughter and son-in-law, Tosha and Trey Spight of Bethlehem; grandchildren and spouses, Jeremy and Samantha Eller and Josh and Breanna Eller all of Toccoa, Julie and Joe McDaniel of Homer, Bruce Reid and Sara Cheek of Baldwin, Theo and Crystal Wright of Alto, Kendra Yarber of Baldwin, Kristina and Aaron Cosson of Demorest, Daniel and Stevie Waters of Cornelia, Kimberly and Cody Watts of Clarkesville, Cale Chitwood of Gainesville, Randall Bruce of Atlanta, Kyle Bruce of Bethlehem, Christopher Bruce of Cornelia, Hannah Bruce of Gainesville, and Drew Spight of Bethlehem; great-grandchildren, Austin, Carter, Colton, Jackson, Ethan, Madison, Abby, Jody, Bryson, Taylor, Cara, Mya, T.J., Bailee, Jaiden, Kylon, Summer, Wyatt, Bowden, Liam, Noah, Cason and MaKenna; great-great grandchild, Lizzie; brothers and sisters-in-law, William Bill and Lucille Wood, Charlie and Mary Wood, Paul and Elaine Wood and Guy Wood all of Demorest; sister and brother-in-law, Mary and the Rev. James Gunn of Royston; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
