No formal services are planned for Herman Stewart, 80, of Gastonia, North Carolina, formerly of Habersham County.
Mr. Stewart passed away Saturday, Dec. 26, 2020.
Born Dec. 28, 1940, in Habersham County, he was a son of the late Virgil Lee and Effie Mae Wheeler Stewart. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Lee Roy Stewart, Doug Stewart, Billy Stewart, Bobby Stewart, Buddy Stewart, Herbert Stewart, and Johnny Stewart; sisters, Louise Patterson and Geneva Ivester.
Herman retired from the state of North Carolina and was an avid sports enthusiast. He especially enjoyed trips to the Charlotte Motor Speedway with his family to watch the NASCAR races.
Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Tina and Jesse Kennedy of Gastonia, North Carolina; granddaughter, Megan; grandson, Drew; brothers and sisters-in-law, Ray and Willene Stewart of Mt. Airy, and Jimmy and Jeanell Stewart of Demorest; sisters, Sue Terry of Cornelia, and Winnie Lou Tench of Clarkesville; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
