Funeral services for Howard Eugene Wade, 90, of Demorest, will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, July 22, at Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel, with Pastor Jan Devereaux, Pastor Marshall Dale, and Mr. Andy Wright officiating. Interment will follow in the Mt. Zion United Methodist Church cemetery with Pastor John Lee and Pastor Edwin Smith officiating.

Mr. Wade passed away Tuesday, July 19, 2022.

Mr. Wade was born July 17, 1932, in Alto, to the late Randall and Ida Stamey Wade. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother and sister-in-law, James and Annie Bell Wade; sister and brother-in-law, Louise and Vance Thompson; infant brother, Bobby Wade; and sister-in-law, Erie Wade.

He loved to laugh and make others laugh. He was always the entertainer. He loved spending time with family and friends. His hobbies included camping, fishing, and wood working. He was a member of Mt. Zion Methodist Church where he served in many positions for over 60 years. Mr. Wade was retired from the Habersham County Board of Education with 20 years of dedicated service as an educator at Habersham Central High School.

Survivors include his wife of 69 years, Emma Ruth Wilkinson Wade; daughters and sons-in-law, Deborah and Steve Wright of Mt. Airy, Revonda and Steve Kimbrell of Gainesville, and Sherri and Ken Cook of Cornelia; seven grandchildren and spouses, Andy Wright and Carly, Kiley Hooks and Kyle, Brittney Bennett and Blake, Blake Kimbrell and Ashlee, Bart Kimbrell and Allison, Dylan Cook, and Haley Hatch and Dan; 17 great-grandchildren; and a brother and sister-in-law, Charles and Polly Wade of Demorest.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Whitfield Funeral Homes & Crematory, North Chapel, Demorest.
