Private graveside services for Hoyt Eugene Ausburn, 90, of Cornelia, will be held at Yonah Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Ashley Williams and Mr. Seth Hulsey officiating. A public memorial service will be held at a later date.
Mr. Ausburn passed away Sunday, May 10, 2020 following an extended illness.
Born March 9, 1930, in Banks County, he was the son of the late Harvey and Hattie Ausburn. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Jackie Fricks Ausburn; grandson, Joey Spath; and several siblings.
Mr. Ausburn was the retired Owner and Operator of Cornelia Cleaners and Clarkesville Cleaners for several years. He was a United States Army Veteran. Mr. Ausburn was one of the oldest members of Level Grove Baptist Church. He was the longtime Chairman of the Habersham Republican Party and was also a member of the Habersham Rotary Club. Hoyt was known to his grandchildren as "Papa" and "Grandpa", and he was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
Survivors include his wife, Jan Williams Ausburn of Cornelia; daughter, Cheryl Spath, of Suwanee; son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Kathy Ausburn, of Cornelia; grandchildren, Chrissy Spath, Trevor Ausburn, and Jalen Ausburn Hulsey and Seth; great-grandchild, Bella Kelly; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family received friends Tuesday May 12, 2020 through a "Pass-By" visitation on the front porch of the Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association.
