Funeral services for Imogene Purdy Trotter, 83, of Cornelia, are 2 p.m. Thursday, July 28, at Camp Creek Baptist Church. Interment will follow in Yonah Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Trotter passed away Thursday, July 21, 2022.
Born Dec. 25, 1938, she was a daughter of the late Ray Purdy and Lillian "Lily" Shirley Purdy. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Trotter was preceded in death by her first husband, John Bennett Armstrong; second husband, Bobby Levi Trotter; sisters, Jeanette Flournoy and Helen Vinson; and brothers, Leonard Purdy and Garnet Purdy.
Mrs. Trotter worked at Fieldale for some time and later retired from Habersham Home after a number of years. She loved her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a very giving person, a hard worker, and fiercely independent. She never spoke ill of others, enjoyed eating KFC, and cooking for her family.
Survivors include, daughters, Dinah Kay Johnson of Cornelia and Julie Trotter Murray (fiancé, Billy Owenby), both of Cornelia; grandchildren and spouses, Kassidy Murray of Cornelia, Brett Downing (Haley) of Dawsonville, Melanie Landers of Cornelia, and April Brown (Brooks) of Cornelia; great-grandchildren and spouse, Rosalyn Rodriguez (Jose) of Cornelia, Hannah Welborn of Woodstock, and Justin Landers of Cornelia; great-great grandchildren, Xander, Violet, and Ethan; brother, Leroy Purdy of Beaumont, Texas; sister, Dorothy Kimbrell of Cornelia; and numerous other extended relatives and friends.
The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until the service hour Thursday at the church.
