Memorial services for James Lewis "Jimmy" Lowery Jr., 56, of Byron, formerly of Cornelia will be held at a later date.

Mr. Lowery passed away Saturday, Jan. 16, 2021.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Fred and Lorene Lowery; maternal grandparents, Pledger and Floyce Dodd; wonderful mother, Jeanne Lowery who just passed the evening before him.

Jimmy was a Deacon with Byron Baptist Church where he was a member since 1986, serving the Lord faithfully in many areas. Jimmy was always available to his church with giving of his time, talents or money. He attended almost every time the doors were open and always was quick to add an "AMEN" when needed for the sermon. Jimmy was a coach with several rec departments and practically coached every kid in the county. The kids he coached affectionately referred to him as "Coach Jimmy." He wasn't just their coach on the field but kept up with them for many years to come. Jimmy was "THE BEST" food salesman. He was loved by everyone as he never met a stranger. Customers quickly became friends with many being loyal to him for his entire career. Many of his customers became like family to us and are loved so dearly.

Surviving are his loving wife, Cheryl "Sugar," as he always called her; son, Trey (Shea) Lowery of Coralville, Iowa; daughter, Lauren Lowery of Byron; father, Lewis Lowery of Byron; mother-in-law, Betty Sims of Byron; niece, Nikki Duggar of Eton; and great-niece, Kayleigh Duggar of Eton; along with lots of uncles, aunts and cousins. Also survived by the queen of the home, Piper, their toy poodle which is loved so much.

Jimmy's goal was to see an awning built at church, so to help support his goal donations may be made to: Vision 2020 Fund, Byron Baptist Church,100 W White Rd, Byron, GA 31008.
