Funeral services for James Wilburn Jones, 88 of Gainesville, are scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 24, in the Chapel of McGahee-Griffin and Stewart with the Rev. John Umberhant officiating.
Mr. Jones passed away Thursday, Oct. 22, 2020.
Born May 30, 1932, in Gainesville, he was a son of the late William Allison Jones and Cora Mayfield Jones. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, DWayne Jones; brothers, Davis Jones and Harold "H.B." Jones; sisters, Stella Mae Bennett, Joyce Cantrell, Nell Eubanks, Jeanette Wilkerson and Jewel Wofford.
Mr. Jones was self-employed and a poultry farmer. He enjoyed being outdoors and farming.
Surviving are his son, Ricky Jones of Gainesville; daughter, LaJuana Jones of Clarkesville; sisters, Levern Porter and Juanita Helton, both of Gainesville, and Geneva Abercrombie of Oakwood; several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until the service hour Saturday at the funeral home.
Flowers are accepted or donations may be made in Mr. Jones memory to a charity of one's choice.
