Janice Chapman Bennett

Graveside services for Janice Chapman Bennett, 85, of Summerville, are scheduled for 2 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 8, at Yonah Memorial Gardens with the Rev. John Umberhant officiating. Those in attendance are asked to please adhere to the public health and social distancing guidelines regarding COVID-19.

Mrs. Bennett passed away Monday, Jan. 3, 2022.

Born Dec. 25, 1936, in Demorest, she was the daughter of the late Leonard Chapman and June Wiggins Chapman Hicks. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lathan Bennett; first husband, Willie Joe McGraw; stepfather, Raymond Hicks; paternal grandparents, Oscar and Clara Wiggins; and maternal grandparents, Will and Minnie Chapman.

Mrs. Bennett was a teller with Habersham Bank of Baldwin and retired with 20 years of service. She was an avid supporter of the Chattooga Cancer Support Group and loved her family.

Surviving are her daughters and sons-in-law, Kathy and Jeff Bennett and Terri and Ricky Jones all of Summerville; grandchildren and spouses, Beth and Casey Howard, Dustin and Jennifer Jones, and B.J. and Ashley Hall; great grandchildren, Emma Howard, Ben Howard, Rylan Jones, Emery Jones, and Mayson Jones; brother and sister-in-law, Max and Beverly Chapman of Terrell, Texas; and nephews, Ray Chapman and Steven Chapman.
