Funeral services for Jean Matthews Gossett-Williams, 93, of Demorest, formerly of Morrow, are scheduled for 11a.m. Wednesday, June 23, at Hillside Memorial Chapel with her grandson, Dr. Michael Gossett officiating. Entombment will follow the service at 2:30 p.m. at Sherwood Memorial Park Cemetery & Mausoleum in Jonesboro.

  Mrs. Gossett-Williams went home to be with the Lord Sunday, June 20, 2021, following an extended illness.

  Born Nov. 2, 1927, in Ozark, Alabama, she was a daughter of the late Warner T. and Belle Marshall Matthews. In addition to her parents, Jean was preceded in death by her first husband, Richard M. Gossett; second husband, Jerome Williams; brothers, Thomas Matthews, Edward Matthews, Zack Matthews, and John Matthews; and a sister, Myra Lowery.

Jean retired as a switchboard operator with Coca Cola Company after many years of dedicated service. She was a faithful member of Level Grove Baptist Church in Cornelia and was formerly a member of First Baptist Church of Jonesboro. In her spare time, Jean was an avid gardener, enjoyed reading her Bible and leading others to Christ. Most of all, she enjoyed spending precious time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Survivors include her children, Richard Tim Gossett of Atlanta, and Phillip W. and Dianne Gossett of Demorest; brother and sister-in-law, Billy and Marie Matthews of Sharpsburg; grandchildren, Matthew Gossett, Amy Gossett, Amanda Gossett, Jana and Jared Sanders, and Dr. Michael and Katie Gossett; 13 great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, other relatives, & friends.
