Memorial services for Jeanne Dodd Lowery, 79, of Macon, formerly of Cornelia, will be held at a later date.

Mrs. Lowery passed away Thursday, Jan. 14, 2021.

Born Feb. 26, 1941, in Alto, Jeanne was the daughter of the late Pledger and Floyce Dodd. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Jimmy Lowery, who passed just one day after her; infant son, Stephen Lowery; in-laws, Fred and Lorene Lowery; and grandparents, Wash and Emma Nicholson.

Jeanne began singing solos at church at the age of three and loved music, never missing an opportunity to sing. She graduated from interior design school in Vienna, Virginia and carried that passion with her throughout her life. She used her talents in interior design to make her home a showplace. As a true southern lady, she opened her heart and home to everyone, and greeted them with a great big hug. Throughout her life, Jeanne and her husband called several different places home, including, Winston Salem, North Carolina, Vienna, Virginia, Cornelia, Albany, and Byron. But every place they lived, was not just a house, it was her home. Together, Jeanne and Lewis raised their son, Jimmy, who gave them two precious grandchildren. They were the light of her life, and affectionately called her "Mom-Mommie." Her sweet spirit will be greatly missed.

Left to cherish her memory is her loving husband of 63 years, Lewis Lowery; daughter-in-law, Cheryl Lowery; grandson, Trey Lowery and his wife, Shea; granddaughter, Lauren Lowery; and special cousin, Peggy Forester.
