Funeral services for Jerry Lee Mote, 84, of the Habersham Mills Community, Demorest, were held Monday, Jan. 31 at Bethel Temple Congregational Holiness Church. Bishop Ronald Wilson officiated. Interment followed in the church cemetery where the Rev. Edward Hood officiated at the graveside.

Mr. Mote took his heavenly flight home to be with his Lord and Savior Friday, Jan. 28, 2022.

Born Sept. 21, 1937, he was a life-long resident of the Habersham Mills Community and was the first child of the late Rev. Erford Lee and Lurlene Martin Mote. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Jean Townsend Mote; grandson, Clayton Lee Coleman; and brothers, Lamar Mote, Maxi Mote, and the Rev. Ronald Mote.

Jerry was a veteran, having served his country proudly in the United States Air Force. He worked with Clarkesville Mill where he retired with over 40 years of dedicated service. Jerry also worked as a local radio personality, first with WRWH, Cleveland and then for many years with WCON, Cornelia. He was a devoted husband, loving father, and dedicated papa to not only his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, but to many others over the years. Jerry was a member of Bethel Temple Congregational Holiness Church.

Survivors include his daughters, Cindy Mote, Cherryl Renaud-Mote, and Kimberly Kitchens; son, Eddy Mote; sister, Lois Mote Nations; sisters-in-law, Willette Mote and Vickie Mote; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives as well as a host of friends.
