A gathering to honor Jewell Diane Owens (White), 71, of Cornelia, was held Sunday, April 11, at Flanigan Funeral Home in Buford. 

  Mrs. Owens passed away Wednesday, April 7, 2021, peacefully in her home after a long battle with cancer.

  Born Oct. 1, 1949, in Atlanta, she was the daughter of late Harry White and Helen Clack White. 

  Jewell graduated from Forest Park Senior High School in 1967 and began a long career in business administration and office management in 1968. Upon moving to Habersham county in 1997, she continued her career and service to the community at Scovill. She then served as administrative assistant to the CEO of Habersham Medical Center in 1999 for 15 years, entering into a well-deserved retirement in 2013. 

Jewell attended Mt. Carmel Baptist Church with her husband, along with their granddaughter, Courtney Ryan Cain, grandson-in-law, Brandon Cain, and her first great-grandchild, Piper (4 ½ months old).

Family was her heart and life. She is survived by her husband of nearly 53 years, David Owens; daughter, Carrie Owens Ryan and husband, Greg; son, Jeff  Owens of Marietta and daughter-in-law, Bleu; grandchildren, Zach Ryan and wife, Emily of Duluth, Courtney Ryan Cain and husband, Brandon of Cornelia, Meredith Owens and Nathan Owens of Marietta, and Shyla Stoops and Arden Stoops of Marietta; great-granddaughter, Piper Cain of Cornelia; brothers, Kenneth White of Locust Grove, and Hal White and wife, Lois, of Jackson; as well as extended family.

Arrangements were in the care of Flanigan Funeral Home and Crematory in Buford.
