Funeral services for Jimmy Randolph King, 74, of Mt. Airy, were held Friday, July 29, at Hillside Memorial Chapel.  Interment followed the service in Hillside Gardens Cemetery.

Mr. King passed away Wednesday, July 27, 2022 at his residence surrounded by his loving family.

Born March 4, 1948, at the Charm House in Clarkesville, Jimmy was the son of the late Neil and Vera LaCount King. In addition to his parents, Jimmy was preceded in death by brothers, Donald King and Roger King.

He was a graduate of South Habersham High School and he enlisted in the United States Army where he earned the rank of sergeant. Jimmy was a highly decorated and awarded soldier and he honorably served his country in the Vietnam War from 1967-1969. He later married Joy Kimsey King in 1972 and he was the owner and operator of King Construction. Jimmy was a member of Mt. Airy Baptist Church and he believed strongly in God, family, and country.

Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Joy Kimsey King of Mt. Airy; son, Neil King (Jennifer); daughters, Lori Pearson (Michael), Jordan King-Shoemaker, and Christy Brown (Jim); sisters, Rebecca Hunt (George) and Pamela Wilson; grandchildren, Kristen Pearson, Austin Pearson (McKenna), Kaitlyn King, Jimmy King II, Emily Shoemaker, Caroline Shoemaker, Keylan Myers, and Brooks Brown; as well as a great-grandchild on the way.
