A private graveside service for Joan M. Feorino, 91, of Clarkesville, will be held at Hillside Gardens Cemetery, Clarkesville.

Mrs. Feorino, a devoted wife and mother, died June 26, 2022 at home with her beloved family.

Joan was born Jan. 19, 1931, in Brooklyn, New York, the daughter of the late John and Elizabeth Ahearn. In addition to her parents, Joan was predeceased by daughter, Marilyn Feorino of San Francisco, California.

She graduated from Brooklyn Girls High School. At age 17, she became a secretary at a legal firm in New York. When she was 19, she met Paul M. Feorino on a blind date. The two married on April 28, 1951, in New York, and marked 71 years of steadfast love shortly before her death.

They left friends and family behind in 1957 to move to Georgia where Paul took a position at the Center for Disease Control. They lived in Decatur where two more girls joined the family. Later, they relocated to Doraville and then to Clarkesville.

Joan was an avid news consumer, a lover of novels, and a fan of classical music and art. She enjoyed trips with Paul to visit other countries and to visit daughters living in different parts of the country and vacation with granddaughters.

She is survived by her beloved husband, Paul; daughters, Patricia Nodine and her husband, Doug of Franklin, North Carolina, Theresa Feorino of Sacramento, California, Marianne Rutan and her husband, John of Good Hope, Lucille Feorino and her husband, Jerrey Roberts of Westfield, Massachusetts, and Diane Feorino and her husband, Bob Lampley of Clarkesville; son-in-law, Randy McMullen of San Francisco; granddaughters Sara Nodine of Lawrenceville, Rachel Nodine and her husband, Jeromy Risner of Rome, Elizabeth Rutan-Ram and her husband, Gabriel Rutan-Ram and their foster daughter, Alyssa Milam of Knoxville, Tennessee; and several nieces and nephews and their spouses.
