Funeral services for Joey Clifton Dooley, 40, of Cornelia, are scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 21, at Hillside Chapel with Dr. Butch Franklin, the Rev. Johnny Thomas, and Coach Brian Johnson officiating. Interment will follow in East View Cemetery in Mt. Airy.
Mr. Dooley passed away Monday, Sept. 16, 2019.
Born Oct. 24, 1978, in Toccoa, he was a son of Margaret Ann Lyles Dooley of Toccoa, and the late James Fred Sonny Dooley.
Joey was a 1997 graduate of Stephens County High School, attended Tusculum College, and graduated from North Georgia Technical College with a degree in computer technology. He was a sports enthusiast who enjoyed helping his two daughters with various sports activities. Joey was an avid outdoorsman who loved gardening, woodworking, hunting and he enjoyed cooking. He attended Mt. Airy Baptist Church, Connextion Church of Cornelia, and was also a member of the Toccoa Masonic Lodge No. 309 F&AM.
Survivors in addition to his mother, include his loving wife of 15 years, Alicia Tyler Dooley of Cornelia; daughters, Grace and Claire Dooley, both of Cornelia; sister and brother-in-law, Amanda and Chris Shirley of Toccoa; brothers and sisters-in-law, Mike and Allison Dooley of Clemson, South Carolina, Sam and Julie Dooley of Toccoa, and Tim and Wanda Dooley of Pierre Part, Louisiana; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Terry and Cindy Tyler of Cornelia; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Lacy and Jonathan Harris of Cornelia; brother-in-law, Dakota Tyler of Cornelia; grandmother-in-law, Linda Williams of Mt. Airy; many nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday, Sept. 20, from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. until 8 p.m.
