Funeral services for Joyce Dee Fisher Free, 79, of the Stonepile Community, Clarkesville, are scheduled for 3 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 14, at Hillside Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Mike Free and the Rev. Ronnie Powell officiating. Interment will follow in Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery.

    Mrs. Free went home to be with the Lord Sunday, Jan. 10, 2021, at her residence.

  Born April 19, 1941, in Howard County, Indiana, she was a daughter of the late John E. and Martha Boone Fisher. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her twin sister, Janice Wilburn; sister, Jean Shepherd; and brother, Johnny Fisher.

Joyce was a 1995 graduate of North Georgia Technical College where she received her Associate Degree in nursing. She worked as a Registered Nurse and retired with Habersham Home with over 30 years of dedicated service. In her spare time, Joyce enjoyed flower gardening, feeding the birds, as well as spending time with her family, especially her children and grandchildren. She was a faithful member of Macedonia Baptist Church.

Joyce was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

Survivors include her husband of 61 years, Nelson Free of the Stonepile Community, Clarkesville; sons and daughters-in-law, Randy and Karola Free of Darlington, South Carolina, Mike and Sandra Free, and Shane and Tina Free, all of Clarkesville; grandchildren, Riley and Beth Free, Stephanie and Dave Johnson, Dakota and Casey Dodd, Dylan Free, Drake Free, Hali and Drew Branson, Jennifer and Caleb Tyler, and Sara Free; great-grandchildren, Zander Free, Lily Free, Ellie May Johnson, Kenli Jarrard, Kayli Jarrard, Kori Jarrard, Karalai Jarrard, Karagan Branson, Elijah Branson, Dane Tyler, Glori Tyler, and Lillian Dodd; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2 p.m. until the service hour Thursday.
