Funeral services for Joyce Kathleen King Adams, 81, of Clarkesville, were held Tuesday, Oct. 27, at Hillside Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Brion Williams and Mr. Cliff Baird officiating. Interment will follow in Oakey Mountain Baptist Church Cemetery.
Mrs. Adams went home to be with the Lord Saturday, Oct. 24, 2020, at her residence surrounded by her family.
Born in Cornelia, Nov. 15, 1938, she was a daughter of the late George Ernest and Mamie Batson King. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her grandson, Will Adams; brothers, Lee King, Charles King, the Rev. Neil King, and Marley King; sisters, Vickie Peek and Elizabeth Carr.
Joyce was a 1957 graduate of South Habersham High School and worked as a head teller with First National/Regions Bank with over 20 years of service before retirement. In her spare time, she enjoyed traveling, watching Cardinals, and her animals. Joyce's first love however was her family and spending precious time with them. She was a faithful member of Oakey Mountain Baptist Church for over 25 years where she served as former Church Treasurer and was a part of the Women's Group better known as "Oakey's Angels."
Joyce was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Survivors include her loving husband of 60 years, William F. "Bill" Adams of Clarkesville; children and spouses, Michael and Susie Adams of Oakwood, Kenny Adams, Dawn Adams and Cecil McConnell, and Danny and Letty Adams, all of Clarkesville; grandchildren, Dustin Adams, Ansley Adams, Ryan Adams, Luke Adams, Andrew Thomas, Alyssa Adams and Isabella Adams; great-grandchildren, Everly Adams and Clyde Tatum; many nieces, nephews, other relatives, a host of friends, and church family.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests all memorial donations be made to Oakey Mountain Baptist Church, P.O. Box 187 Clarkesville, GA 30523.
