Funeral services for Marie Sullens Blitchington, 73, of Demorest, will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 5, at Hillside Memorial Chapel. Interment will follow the service in Hillside Gardens Cemetery.
Mrs. Blitchington passed away Saturday, Feb. 1, 2020, following a period of declining health.
Born March 5, 1946, in Gainesville, she was the daughter of the late Clarence and Nancy Isabelle Hatcher Sullens. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Gene Blitchington; and siblings, Horace Sullens, Nancy Barlow, Dewitt Sullens and Martha Hudson.
Mrs. Blitchington was a prayer warrior and a devout Christian. She enjoyed working in her yard and cooking special meals for her family on their birthdays and other special occasions, but most of all she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. She was a retired inspector with Avery Labels.
Survivors include daughters and sons-in-law, Kim and Mark Nations of Mt. Airy, and Michelle and Jay Fling of Madison; stepchildren, Kenny Blitchington of Newnan, Bill Blitchington of Charleston, South Carolina, and Sara Blitchington of Sharpsburg; grandchildren, Melissa Kloss, Brittany Oliver, Krisha Nations, Jamie Nations and Lillie Fling; great-grandchildren, Jacob Tyler, Jeremie Tyler and Finlee Kloss; brothers and sisters-in-law, Delmos and Wilma Sullens, and Clarence and Betty Sullens; brother, Jim Sullens; as well as some wonderful and treasured nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held at Hillside Memorial Chapel prior to the funeral service Wednesday from noon until 2 p.m.
