Memorial services for Mary Frances "Mimi" Cochran Funk, 80, of Cornelia, will be held at noon Saturday, Aug. 6, in the chapel of McGahee-Griffin & Stewart with David Terrell officiating. Inurnment will follow in VFW Memorial Park Cemetery.
Mrs. Funk passed away Tuesday, Aug. 2, 2022.
Born Aug. 17, 1941, in Sylva, North Carolina, she was a daughter of the late Worth Grant Warren and Helen Jones Warren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Franklin Funk; son, Terry Grant Funk; brothers, Cecil Cochran, Larry Cochran, and Jimmy "Buddy" Cochran; and sister, Margaret Peggy Cochran.
Mrs. Funk retired from Johnson & Johnson where she worked in quality control. She was an avid reader and BINGO player and enjoyed crocheting blankets and baking cakes for her family and the community. She was a huge fan of the Atlanta Braves! Mrs. Funk was a member of Ladies Auxiliary at the VFW and the last member of her immediate family.
Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law, Timmy Funk (Lettie) of Bradenton, Florida, Robin Funk of Homer, and Todd Funk of Cornelia; daughter, Susan Metz of Anderson, South Carolina; grandchildren, Jonathan, David (Chantley) and Zack Funk, who were raised in her home, Trista Koenigseder (Casey), Grant Funk (Ashley), Garrett Metz, Kylie Dixon (Aubrey), Claire Metz, and Riley Kastner; and great-grandchildren, Blake Phothisane, Noah Funk, Chance Funk, Myles Funk, Raelynn Dixon, Ava Dixon, Marlee Dixon, and Vaden Metz.
The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until the service hour Saturday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Mt. Airy Masonic Lodge 141 Secret Santa Fund to aid in pharmacy costs for our local community at P.O. Box 106, Mt. Airy, GA 30563.
