Funeral services for Michael "Dale" Murray, 59, of Demorest, were held Monday, April 25, at Hillside Memorial Chapel. The Rev. Kenneth McEntire and the Rev. Chad Parham officiated. Interment followed in the Hollywood Baptist Church cemetery with full military honors provided by Grant Reeves Honor Guard.

Mr. Murray went home to be with the Lord Thursday, April 21, 2022.

Born Jan. 15, 1963, in Demorest, he was a son of the late JoAnn Carlan Taylor and Duncan Taylor. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandparents, John and Magnolia Nix Carlan; aunts, Linda Abernathy, Manolia Bowden, and Myra Bohannon; and uncle, Jerry Carlan.

Dale was a graduate of Habersham Central High School, class of 1981. He was a veteran, having served his country proudly in the United States Air Force. He worked as a cabinet installer for Pantherwood, Inc. with over 40 years of dedicated service. In his spare time, Dale was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed camping, fishing, and football. He also loved watching old Westerns, especially Gun Smoke. Most of all, Dale was a devoted husband, dedicated father, and devoted papa. He was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include his loving wife of 39 years, Sandy Webb Murray of Demorest; daughters and sons-in-law, Candi Rae and Chris James of Demorest, Kady Jo and T.J. Burgess of Anderson, South Carolina, and Mandy Green and Clay Cantrell of Mount Airy; sister, Donna Murray Seay of Cornelia; grandchildren, Conner Burgess, Bo Burgess, Madison Green, Haygen James, Meghan Green, Hailey Burgess, and Handley Rae James; mother-in-law, Gladys Webb of Mount Airy; aunt, Arlene Whiting of Demorest; and several other relatives and friends.
