Mildred Louise Gudger Smith

Funeral services for Mildred Louise Gudger Smith, 91, of Demorest, were held Sunday, May 22,  at Victory Baptist Church. The Rev. Shane Jenkins and the Rev. Keith Allison officiated. Interment followed in the Fairfield Baptist Church cemetery.

Mrs. Smith passed away Thursday, May 19, 2022.

Born March 28, 1931, in Turnerville, she was a daughter of the late Andrew Jackson Gudger and Belle May Gudger. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Homer Smith; son, Charles Steve Smith; grandson, James Ronald Corn; brother, J.C. Gudger; and sisters, Ruth Mason and Thelma Thomas.

She worked at Clarkesville Mills for a number of years before becoming a homemaker and babysitter. Mrs. Smith enjoyed family gatherings, canning, and gardening. She was a member and taught Sunday school for 30 years at Fairfield Baptist Church and most recently attended Victory Baptist Church. Mildred was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who cherished her family deeply.

Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law, Ronnie Smith (Beverly), Doug Smith (Debbie), and Brady Smith (Mary), all of Demorest; daughters and sons-in-law, Sheila McCutcheon (Butch) and Sherrie Colbert (Jeff), all of Demorest; 14 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; sister, Doris Rigdon of Eastanollee; and a host of nieces and nephews.
