Graveside services for Nan Augusta Moyer Hurley, 90, of Clarkesville, are scheduled for 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 28, at Memory Gardens in Madison, West Virginia.

Mrs. Hurley passed away Tuesday, Aug. 23, 2022.

Born Nov. 27, 1931, in True, West Virginia, she was a daughter of the late Walter H. and Ethel Mae Tickle Moyer. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles E. Hurley Sr.; her daughter, Constance G. Jones; brothers, Bill Moyer and Walter Moyer Jr.; and sister, Mildred Barnes.

Nan was a graduate of Van High School, class of 1949. She furthered her education at Morris Harvey College studying science and also studied nursing at Kanawha Valley Hospital School of Nursing. Nan was a 1993 graduate of Southern Utah University where she majored in history, minored in English literature and also taught as a professor with the college for over two years. In her spare time, she enjoyed reading, knitting, and crocheting. Nan also wrote an autobiography. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

Survivors include her sons and daughters-in-law, Jonathan and Starr Hurley of Clarkesville and Charles and Sharon Hurley of Mesquite, Nevada; grandchildren, George and Jenny Hurley of the Hollywood community, Clarkesville, Jennifer and Kim Hurley of Clarkesville,  Rory and Debbie Hurley of Loganville, Utah, Becky and Rob Stepp of Memphis, Tennessee, Cem and Peter Chereck of Port Neches, Texas, Meade Jones of Marathon, Florida, and Brittany and Darren Wilkes of Mesquite, Nevada; and a host of great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, other relatives, and friends.
