Funeral services for Pauline Gunn, 77, of Demorest, were held Wednesday, Jan. 20, from Bethel Temple Church with Bishop Ronald Wilson and the Rev. Scott Ledbetter officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery with the Rev. Larry Lingafelt officiating.  

  Mrs. Gunn went to be with the Lord Sunday, Jan. 17, 2021.

  Born June 16, 1943, in Gaston, North Carolina, she was the daughter of the late Vaughn and Winnie McCallister Mathis. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughters, Teresa Renee Gunn and Donna Lynn Gunn Cooper; son, Johnathan Darrell Gunn; and her mother-in-law and father-in-law, Roy and Ola Mae Gunn. 

Mrs. Gunn attended Bethel Temple Church. She was a loving wife and mother and loved spending time with her adopted grandson. Mrs. Gunn also loved spending time outside working in her flowers. Mrs. Gunn was a retired employee of Johnson and Johnson with 17 years of loyal and dedicated service.  

Survivors include her loving husband of 59 years, Johnny Gunn of  Demorest; son, Alan Gunn of Demorest; son-in-law, Richard Cooper of Baldwin; sister, Ophelia Bickham of Odessa, Texas; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Evelyn and Tommie Lewallen of Demorest; sister-in-law, Dianne Gunn of Demorest; brother, Kevin Mathis of Kings Mountain, North Carolina; adopted grandson, Wyatt Tanksley;  several nieces and nephews also survive.

The family received friends Tuesday, Jan. 19, at Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel.   

Flowers are accepted or memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Pl, Memphis, TN 38105.

Arrangements were entrusted to the Whitfield Funeral Homes & Crematory, North Chapel, Demorest.
