A memorial service for R. Lawrence "Larry" Williams will be held at a later date.

    Mr. Williams died Wednesday, Dec. 23, 2020, at the age of 75.

  Born Dec. 13, 1945, in Plainfield, New Jersey, Larry spent most of his life in the Atlanta and Clarkesville areas.

  Larry served in the United States Air Force and was a veteran of the Vietnam War. He graduated from Georgia Southern College and attended graduate school at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, where he studied Public Administration. Larry served as the Director of the Division of Human Development in the Georgia Governor's Office of Planning and Budget. In this capacity, he was instrumental in designing and modifying comprehensive Medicaid reimbursement systems for nursing homes, hospitals, and home health agencies. From 1986 until retirement in 2011, he worked for PruittHealth where he held a variety of roles including, Chief Financial Officer and Executive Vice President. Larry's vision, financial intelligence and tireless dedication to the organization were invaluable.  

A devoted husband and father, he always supported the artistic efforts of his wife and daughter, never missing a production or art show. He loved watching and listening to his daughter sing, perform on stage, and direct children's plays, always with a twinkle in his eye. He enjoyed working with his cattle on his farm in Habersham County. He was respected both professionally and personally for his honesty, work ethic, loyalty and passion in all that he did. Always fair and consistent, his word was always good.  You could count on it.   

Larry is survived by his wife, Pat; daughter, Amanda Lee Williams and her husband, Brad Kloth, and their daughters, Parker and Marlowe; brothers, Craig Medvetz, his wife, Tammy and sons, Kyle and Cole; Keith Medvetz and his daughter, Jackie; and Shawn Williams and his, daughter, Autumn; nephew, Todd Finch; and niece, Ingrid Magnuson.
