Funeral services for the Rev. Edward Eugene "Gene" Poole, 94, of Cornelia, are scheduled for 1 p.m. Monday, Jan. 10, in the Chapel of McGahee-Griffin and Stewart Funeral Home with the Rev. James Gunn and the Rev. David Turner officiating. Interment will follow in Yonah Memorial Gardens.
Rev. Poole passed away Sunday, Jan. 2, 2022.
Born June 3, 1927, in Gainesville, he was the son of the late Garnet Harlon and Edna Gillespie Poole. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 73 years, Dorothy Dot Ruth Beaty Poole and his brother, Harlon Poole Sisk.
Mr. Poole was a master watchmaker and jeweler for 50 years and pastored part time. He enjoyed racing and was a professional race car driver. Mr. Poole proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps.
Surviving are his sons, Tom Poole and spouse, Marcus Young of Honolulu, Hawaii and Rick Poole of Waipahu, Hawaii; daughter, Renee Letourneau of Cornelia; grandson, Riverson Poole of Waipahu, Hawaii; great-grandchildren, Hayven, Aveyah and Ezra; and many other family and friends.
The family will receive friends from noon until the service hour Monday at the funeral home. Those in attendance are asked to please adhere to the public health and social distancing guidelines regarding COVID-19.
