Funeral services for the Rev. Sam Ragan Sr., 92, of Cornelia, will be held at 11 a.m. Friday Dec. 6, at the Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel, Demorest, with the Rev. Mike Wilson and the Rev. Johnny Loudermilk officiating. Interment will follow in Yonah Memorial Gardens.
Rev. Ragan went to be with the Lord Tuesday, Dec. 3, 2019.
Born July 23, 1927, in Pendergrass, he was the son of the late Walter and Annie Ragan. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 70 years, Lucy McCoy Ragan; and a son, Samuel Lamar Ragan, Jr. Rev. Ragan was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
Rev. Ragan was a retired Baptist minister having served the following churches: Ridgeway Baptist Church, Camp Creek Baptist Church, Grace Baptist Church and Community Baptist Church.
Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Patsy and Tom Morrison of Commerce, and Wanda and Stan Morris of Alto; eight grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
