Funeral services for the Rev. Ronald Mote, 75, of Demorest, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 15, at Bethel Temple Congregational Holiness Church. Interment will follow in the church cemetery with military honors provided by the Grant Reeves Honor Guard.

  Mr. Mote went home to be with the Lord Wednesday, May 12, 2021.

  Born Nov. 20, 1945, in Habersham County, he was the son of the late Rev. Erford Lee and Lurlene Martin Mote. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Jason Ronald Mote; brothers, Maxie Mote and Lamar Mote; brother-in-law, Ernest Nations Jr.; sister-in-law, Jean Mote; and father-in-law, J.D. Hooper.

Rev. Mote was a member of Bethel Temple Congregational Holiness Church. He was a United States Air Force Veteran having served during the Vietnam Era. Rev. Mote was a minister having pastored several churches in the surrounding area for approximately 25 years. He had retired from the United States Postal Service with over 15 years of service. Ronald enjoyed spending time whittling. He was known to his grandchildren as "Poppy."

Survivors include his loving wife of nearly 48 years, Vickie Hooper Mote; daughters and sons-in-law, Sarah Mote and Bryan Moody of Demorest, and Rhonda Mote and Aaron Church of Clarkesville; grandchildren, Allie Church and Morgan Moody; sister, Lois Nations of Clarkesville; brother, Jerry Mote of Demorest; sister-in-law, Willette Mote of Demorest; mother-in-law, Rutheleen Hooper of Demorest; sisters-in-law and their husbands, Deborah and Sam Whelchel, and Carol and Dale Green; and a host of nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 2 until 4 p.m. and 6 until 8 p.m., Friday, May 14, at Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel.
