Funeral services for Sheila Thomason Allen, 64, of Demorest, are scheduled for noon Saturday, Mar. 5, at Hillside Memorial Chapel in Clarkesville with the Rev. Austin Kelley officiating. Interment will follow in Hillside Gardens Cemetery with Evangelist Mike Randall officiating at the graveside.

Mrs. Allen was called to her heavenly home to be with Jesus Wednesday, Mar. 2, 2022 following a tenacious battle with cancer.

Born Dec. 23, 1957, in Demorest, she was a daughter of the late Gerald and Mary Jane "Janie" Thomason. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Warren Thomason and by her father-in-law, Coleman Allen.

Sheila was a graduate of Habersham Central High School, class of 1975, and pursued a career in medicine. She worked as a pharmacy technician at Habersham Medical Center, Northeast Georgia Medical Center, and Lee Arrendale State Correctional Facility with over 40 years of dedicated service. Sheila was an avid reader, loving mother, and devoted wife. Sheila's greatest blessing was welcoming and spending time with her lone surviving granddaughter, Piper Oaklyn Allen, who shares her grandfather's namesake. Sheila's legacy will continue to live on through the lives of her husband, two sons, and granddaughter.

Survivors include her loving husband of 45 years, Oaklon Allen of Demorest; sons, Blake Allen and Mark Allen and granddaughter, Piper Oaklyn Allen, all of Athens; brothers, Glenn Thomason of Mount Airy and Gerald Thomason of Cornelia; mother-in-law, Della Mae Allen of Clarkesville; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Bart and Kim Allen of Winder; special aunt and caregiver, Linda McAllister of Augusta; two aunts; one uncle; several cousins, nieces, and nephews; other relatives; friends; and her canine companion, Charlie.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5 until 8 p.m. Friday.
