In consideration of public health, safety and conditions from the current pandemic, a celebration of life service for Stephen Jeffry "Butch" Davis, 77, of Clarkesville, will be held at a later date.
Mr. Davis went home to be with his Lord and Savior Wednesday, Dec. 17, 2020.
Born Jan. 21, 1943, in Gainesville, he was the son of the late Lloyd and Helen Hogsed Davis. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his two Shetland Sheep Dogs, Hunny Bunny Davis and Scooter Davis.
Butch served his country proudly in the United States Marine Corps and attended college at the University of Georgia. He enjoyed an extensive career with the railroad industry including Norfolk Southern, The Great Walton Railroad, and finally finished his run with the Canadian Pacific Railway Soo Line Division with over 25 years of combined experience as a Locomotive Engineer. Butch was an avid University of Georgia and SEC football fan. He also enjoyed playing golf in his earlier years.
Butch treated everyone with love and respect. He was a faithful member of the Oakey Mountain Baptist Church where he was active in Sunday School and enjoyed singing in the church choir. Butch also loved being an active participant in the Friday Morning Mens Group at Ken Shores Barn, better known as The Liars Club.
Survivors include his loving wife, Pamela Loudermilk Davis; sons, Jeff, Frank, and Charlie; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild; his precious Siamese Cat, Gloria; nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
To his long-time Marine Corps friend, Ditty Bop Semper Fi & to his railroad brother, Keith Finger, Butch has made his final run.
