There will be a remembrance and celebration of life service for Stephen Jones Grizzard, 66, of Clarkesville, at 2 p.m. Sunday, July 28, at Windermere Lodge, 4444 Front Nine Drive, Cumming, GA 30041.

Mr. Grizzard passed away July 22, 2019, at Northside Hospital after battling leukemia.

Born Nov. 14, 1952, in Atlanta, he was the son of the late Gen. James C. Grizzard and Ida (Renfroe) Grizzard. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, John Trask and James C. Grizzard Jr.

Steve grew up in Avondale Estates and attended The Webb School in Tennessee before graduating from Darlington School in Rome.  He attended Mercer University where he was a member of the golf team and member of Phi Delta Theta fraternity.  This started a life-long love affair with the sport of golf and he went on to graduate from the University of Georgia.

Steve's career in business lead to forming his own successful manufacturers representative company, Southern Marketing Enterprises.  After spending years in Atlanta with his wife, Barbara and daughter, Elizabeth, the family moved to Habersham County.  A resident of the Orchard Golf & Country Club, Steve spent many happy hours pursuing his golfing hobby.  He also volunteered much of his time to Habersham Community Theatre, serving on the board of directors as well as working on stage and behind the scenes.  Steve successfully balanced his professional life with his family life and always sought to serve his community as well.

He is survived by his much beloved wife, Barbara Brinson Grizzard; daughter, Elizabeth Grizzard Knowles; son-in-law, Ryan Knowles; grandson, Roxas Knowles; brother, George Grizzard; sister, Jeannine Grizzard; sister-in-law, Cherry McDonald; as well as beloved nieces and nephews.

To access parking for the lodge, turn at the large stone entrance sign marked "Village Center."  In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society or Habersham Community Theatre.
