Funeral services for Teresa Lynne Fortenberry Ayers, 65, of Clarkesville, are scheduled for 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 17, at Hillside Memorial Chapel with Pastor Jeff Appling officiating. Interment will follow in Hillside Gardens Cemetery.

Mrs. Ayers was called to her heavenly home to be with Jesus Friday, Feb. 11, 2022 following a courageous battle with cancer.

Born Jan. 9, 1957, in Demorest, she was a daughter of the late Hobert and Patsy Ash Fortenberry. In addition to her parents, Teresa was preceded in death by her sister-in-law, Glenda Ayers Irvin.

Teresa was an honor graduate of Habersham Central High School, class of 1975, attended The University of Georgia, and graduated from Truett-McConnell College with an associates degree in business administration. She worked for the Federal Reserve for over 13 years and retired in 1996 to assist her husband in their family business. Teresa was the co-owner of Ayers Offices Products, Inc. In her spare time, she enjoyed traveling adventures with family and friends to new places and most recently developed a passion for art in which she attended classes with her friends. Most of all, Teresa's greatest blessing was spending precious time with her family and affectionately being known to her grandchildren as "Grandma Honey." Her legacy will live on through the lives of her family and friends that she touched and that loved her so much.

Survivors include her loving husband and soul mate of 43 years, Johnny Ayers of Clarkesville; daughters and son-in-law, Anna Ayers and Fabian Lliguin and their children, Bella and Johnny Lliguin of Delhi, New York; Joni Lynne Ayers and her children, Max and Ella Hill of Nolensville, Tennessee; sister and brother-in-law, Coni and Gene Petty of Richmond, Virginia; brother-in-law, Kenneth Irvin of Demorest; niece and spouse, Amanda and Matt Hane and their daughter, Madeline Hane of Richmond, Virginia; niece and spouse, Delaine and Marty Blazek and their children, Jonah, Noah, and Micah Blazek all of Naperville, Illinois; niece, Lori Beth Irvin of Naperville, Illinois; and many other relatives and friends.
