A funeral service for Thomas Stephen "Steve" Howard, 63, of Carnes Creek Road, Toccoa, will be Friday, Sept. 20, at 2 p.m. at Rock Quarry Congregational Holiness Church with the Rev. Dennis Wade and the Rev. Sanford Kimbrell officiating. Interment will follow in Carnes Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.
Mr. Howard passed away Monday, Sept. 16, 2019, at his residence.
Born Nov. 30, 1955, in Stephens County, where he lived all his life, he was a son of June Norris Howard and the late Thomas Hubert Howard. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Grigg Shirley.
He was employed with Milliken for a number of years and was a member of Mt. Sinai Congregational Holiness Church in Lula. He loved coon hunting and deer hunting.
Survivors include his mother, June Norris Howard of the home; daughters and son-in-law, April Howard of Habersham County, and Misty and Shannon Smith of Gainesville; two sons, Michael Howard and Paul Lawson of Anderson, South Carolina, and Stephen Howard, Jr. of Alto; grandchildren, Cobey, Burgundy, Stephen III, Nolan, Ryan, Sara, Paris, Najji and Shay; sister, Dona Kay Shirley of Eastanollee; nephews, Kevin, Kendall and Jon Shirley.
The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers: Cobey Howard, Ryan Stevens, Stephen Howard III, Nolan Stevens, Kevin Shirley, Kendall Shirley and Jon Shirley.
