Funeral services for W. C. Cawthon, 91, of Demorest, will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, March 18, at Bethel Temple Congregational Holiness Church with the Rev. Edward Hood, Bishop Ronald Wilson, the Rev. Phillip Robinson, and the Rev. Casey Robinson officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery with full military honors provided.

Mr. Cawthon passed away Tuesday, March 15, 2022.

Born May 11, 1930, in Martin, he was a son of the late Jefferson P. Cawthon and Evie Mae Wright Cawthon. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Rachel Hendrix Cawthon; brothers, Jeff, John Henry, James, Lynn, Glynn, and Willie Cawthon; and sisters, Ruth Smith, Inez Cawthon, Carol Bray, Betty Pierce, Ann, and Naomi Ellard.

Mr. Cawthon was a United States Army veteran having served during the Korean Conflict. He retired from Habersham Mills after 38 years as a machinist. Mr. Cawthon was a member of Bethel Temple Congregational Holiness Church where he served as a deacon for multiple terms. He read the entire Bible 114 times and loved to sing gospel music.

He is survived by son, Wesley C. Cawthon of Demorest; daughter, Becky Jean Robinson (Rev. Phillip) of Cleveland; grandchildren, the Rev. Casey Robinson, Alicia Robinson, and Megan Robinson; great-grandchildren, Cameron Robinson and Luke Caudell; and sister, Velma Gettys of Toccoa.
