Funeral services for Watson Lamar "Boots" Pitts, 76, of Mt. Airy, will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 11, in the chapel of McGahee-Griffin & Stewart with the Rev. Raymond Payne and Drew Pitts officiating. Interment will follow in the Welcome Home Baptist Church cemetery.

Mr. Pitts passed away Monday, Aug. 8, 2022.

Born Feb. 3, 1946, in Clarkesville, he was a son of the late Tom Watson Pitts and Sarah Lela Sellers Pitts. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Beulah Stapleton and Jerri Hendrix; brother, Tim Pitts; and brother-in-law, Keith Dockins.

Mr. Pitts retired after 37 years from Norfolk Southern Railroad where he worked as an engineer. He enjoyed telling stories of his time spent with the railroad. He also enjoyed working with livestock, going to livestock sales, and going to auctions. He was a member of Welcome Home Baptist Church.

Survivors include special friend and companion, Brenda Crunkleton of Mt. Airy; sons and daughters-in-law, Keith Pitts (Cheryl) of Mt. Airy, and Brad Pitts (Tamara) of Baldwin; grandchildren, Heather Pitts and Drew Pitts; brother, Doug Pitts of Clermont; sisters and brother-in-law, Ruth Cook (John) of Suwanee, and Lisa Dockins of Mt. Airy; and numerous other relatives and friends.

The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 10, at the funeral home.
