Mr. Edwards passed away Monday, Sept. 13, 2021, at Northeast Georgia Medical Center, Braselton, from complications of COVID-19. He was a beloved husband, father, brother, and friend.

Born Feb. 19, 1931, in Cleveland, he was a son of the late William J. and Fannie Sears Edwards.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, T. W. Fisher, Corbett Edwards, and Claude Edwards; father-in-law and mother-in-law, the Rev. Percy and Tannie Roberts Allen; sister-in-law, Hazel McCollum Fisher; and brother-in-law, Andrew Helton.

Herbert received many blessings from God and is survived by his loving wife of 68 years (they celebrated their 68th anniversary Sept. 6, 2021), Barbara Allen Edwards; daughter, Margie N. Edwards; and twin sons, Kerry W. and Terry H. Edwards, all of Clarkesville; sister, Clara Lee Helton of Cleveland; sister-in-law, Phoebe McConnell Edwards of Demorest; several nieces and nephews and great- nieces and nephews; and special friends, Joan and Trinidad Gonzalez of Cleveland.

Herbert was retired the past 25 years from Schnadig Corp. where he put in 43 years of dedicated service. In his spare time, Herbert enjoyed woodworking, gardening, repairing his and his friend’s vehicles, and traveling.

He loved his granddogs and the family cats; for those who wish, Herbert's family is asking that donations in his memory be made to the Habersham County Animal Care & Control at 4231 Toccoa Highway, Clarkesville, GA 30523.
