Funeral services for William Lamar Shook, 78, of Demorest, are scheduled for 2 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 2 at Providence Baptist Church with Dr. Don Drawdy officiating. Mr. Shook will lie in state at the church from 1 p.m. until the service hour Wednesday. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

Mr. Shook went home to be with the Lord Sunday, Jan. 30, 2022.

Born July 6, 1943, in Clayton, he was a son of the late Clifford McKinley and Myrtle Mae Smith Shook. In addition to his parents, Lamar was preceded in death by his brothers and sister-in-law, James and Katherine Shook and Albert Shook; sisters and brothers-in-law, Betty and Ed Roberts and Beulah Mae and William Shaw.

Lamar retired from Scovill Manufacturing with 40½ years of dedicated service. In his spare time, he enjoyed squirrel hunting and deer hunting and spent lots of days with his friend, Sherrill Fry, gardening. Most of all, Lamar enjoyed precious time with his family. He was a member of Providence Baptist Church.

Survivors include his loving wife, Shirley Ferguson Shook; son and daughter-in-law, Danny and Michelle Shook; grandchildren, Kelsey and Dylan Charles, Madison Shook and Michael Johnson; great-grandson, Kershaw Glavin Charles all of Demorest; brother and sister-in-law, Jerry & Sarah Shook of Alto; sisters and brothers-in-law, Ida Lee and Wayne Gragg of the Batesville Community, Clarkesville and Patricia and David Chastain of Mt. Airy; sister-in-law, Eva Nell Shook of the Batesville Community, Clarkesville; and several nieces, nephews, other relatives, and a host of friends.
