Costs are too high

To the editor:

I keep reading and hearing about the cost increases for county construction doubling and tripling. It seems to me that county officials are dealing with the wrong people. Maybe they should fire the existing cadre, and rehire more conservative folks in that department and quit using the usual folks for design and estimate.

Because something is just wrong with the numbers. I am a native of this area, and as I pointed out in a previous letter to the editor, even with the Biden Inflation issues, the numbers for cost overruns and costs the county is incurring for some of their projects is completely off the charts.

The county should receive the best and lowest prices for work done “for the good of the people of the county.” Mainly because “we the people” have to pay for it and I don’t know about you, but I am just not that rich to keep paying more and more and more in taxes.

At this rate, the county might have to support me instead of me supporting the county. It appears that …. because of the politics, the prices are being, well, padded…. overly padded. I personally think an investigation is warranted as this is just too much and too painful to watch.

Where does all that money go? There is no way it is all going into the construction project. It just does not cost that much. I am a consumer too. I know what it should cost!
