To the editor: Having just returned from an amazing Thanksgiving visit to my daughter, her husband, grandkids and friends in Mobile, Ala., I am now pondering this upcoming incredible Christmas season.
As I gaze into the fire in my fireplace, I plan my next move with my usual great care. Should I hang lights on my porch or decorate the Christmas tree? Decisions, decisions. I marvel that I am once again on the verge of my all time favorite time of the year – Christmas.
I have written Christmas letters for decades. I find them all to be equally important. At this time of year, I sense a different attitude among my fellow Toccoans. There is a sense of kindness, a gentleness if you will. An appreciation for your neighbor. A realization that God has blessed us with this stunningly incredible country we call America.
I would suggest that my neighbors reflect upon the good things that we share. For this most wonderful time of year, try to avoid negativity. You may be amazed at the improvement in the quality of your life. Help a neighbor. Go out of your way to assist the elderly. It is so important to tell someone that you love them. Above all, remember the reason for the season. It is to celebrate the birth of Jesus. Now go live, love and enjoy. Christian or not, I wish you a most joyous Christmas season. Above all, I wish for that most elusive of gifts, I wish you peace. Merry Christmas.
