To the editor:
Years ago, South Main Street was a quiet road to Cornelia. That was then and this is now.
It has turned out to be a road for trying out cars and seeing who has the loudest. When I asked how many tickets had been written since the new ordinance was passed, the answer was none.
I asked if police were blind and deaf, and I was told they couldn’t write tickets because they don’t have a meter that reads sound levels.
We have million dollar builds for the fire department and city hall and don’t have what it takes to write tickets?
Now for the beauty of South Main Street. As you enter Cornelia, you see a welcome to Cornelia, Home of the Big Red Apple sign, and across the highway, you see 35 cars parked on the left side of a building and 25 on the front and right sides.
It seems as if you have a permit for an auto repair shop and that you can park all that you want to.
Try it on your own property or let your grass get too high. I know the city doesn’t own the railroad crossing, so the railroad must think it is part of South Main Street also.
I don’t expect any action but I feel a lot better.
