Trouble getting my ballot

To the editor: On June 10, I received an email informing me that I would be receiving an absentee ballot. I had requested this for this year due to the risk of COVID as I am 71 yrs old. I had not received a ballot and called the Habersham County office to find out what the problem was, and I was informed that though I voted in the last election and should have rolled over to receive a ballot as stated in the email, one was not sent.

Ergo, I have to go in person to the Demorest Fire station to vote tomorrow. She said she clearly did not know why one was not sent or why I did not roll over in the bank to receive one. With all the voter restrictions placed by the GOP leadership to discourage voting by Dems and Independents, it concerns me that other senior citizens such as myself might have been “overlooked” as I was.

She assured me I would receive an absentee ballot in November but, sadly, I lack confidence in that occurring based on the current lack of ballot. I might also add that the email sent was very confusing re: who was eligible to vote as many do not speak “voter lingo.” It was clear as mud.
