Robo-call and text economics
To the editor:
I earned a degree in Economics in 1974. By now, my guide, John Kenneth Galbraith must certainly be rolling over in his grave! The capitalist ethic and its accompanying morality is certainly eroding away! Much like the charm of a new girlfriend, that rapidly erodes as time passes. Allow me to refer you to the new American economic scourge - robo-calls and texts!
A day does not pass in this country when a cell phone rings and a new call, or text, hideously attacks again, with its spurious money-seeking advertisement, made via an automated voice or text trying to sell someone something they do not need, want, doesn’t work or is down-right lies! Some of these are even profane or sexually erotic! Welcome to the United States and the 21st Century! The new normality! People today must love this invasion of privacy and morality, because no one wants to do anything about it! They must love to hear these “auto-utterances” of lies, profanity and scams seeking their hard-earned financial wealth.
Even our “diligent” politicians don’t want or can’t restore the country back to normal. They choose to ignore, or refuse to rectify this absurdity. Either inability or loss of financial gain can only be their rationale! Just like crime, ignoring some things are just easier or too politically economical to do!
By the way, who are we going to vote for this time?

Women rejoice
To the editor:
In seeking equal access under the law involving equal opportunity for women’s rights issues and causes, which would invoke civil rights for inclusion for minority women, if non-inclusion could be supported and challenged, concerning all levels involving integration, than you would have to come to the summation of why non inclusion for African American women has never been achieved. Allegedly, we have the best colleges and schools. Roughly speaking, two one-million-women marches, at a $10 a piece donation, would generate a $20 million surplus to help those with issues or causes, which would hinder or suppress oppression and suppression and work hand in hand. In contrast, in looking at the racial parity clause, you could get the impression concerning balance, that the possibility is there that some are being slighted or ignored. So who stole the dog and pony show?

The Quiet Race
To the editor:
Not long ago, the Cleveland Indians removed the word “Indians” from the team title. The reasoning given by our always accurate and unbiased “news” was that the American Indian was offended.
A poll among American Indians earlier revealed that most had no interest in the team name. Others were offended by the stupidity of the question. Follow along carefully. I have read extensively of our Native American Race. I have found them to be a proud, noble people. Certainly not a group to be offended by a simple word. No, my friend, this latest social upheaval was not started by the American Indian.
The only public “protest” that I am aware of initiated by American Indians concerned the Dakota pipeline. This Native American protest involved our esteemed government trying to cross an Indian burial ground and polluting their water while installing a pipeline.
The Indians, rightfully so, protested. While they did not stop the pipeline, they forced the U.S. Government to do the required environmental impact study. The American Indian does not involve themselves in activities such as mob violence and destruction. I believe that would be below their character.
They would also not be a good group on which to pin the word “victim.” For hundreds of years, they roamed this country as free as the wind. They considered this land and all within it to be sacred. They were defeated by the white man only through sheer numbers. The American government lied to them repeatedly and once the Indian was defeated, he was forced onto reservations where many languish today. Many are without water or electricity.
If you disagree, I suggest you look it up. I mention the American Indian merely to illustrate how easy it is for a country to cater to the group making the most noise. It is my opinion that no race in American history has ever been more mistreated than the noble Native American. I will close with this fact. I watched this summer as “protesting” mobs burned and looted American cities. Law enforcement stood idly by. During the Native American protests, the protesters were set upon with attack dogs, resulting in multiple injuries. Somebody please be offended.
