In honor of Teacher Appreciation Week, we want to add our gratitude for the women and men who teach our children every day.
This year has been particularly challenging as we have faced down the pandemic and come out stronger. While many schools around the country still have not returned to in-person school, Habersham County has pulled it off safely and successfully for nearly this entire school year. Our school system has not had a positive case in the last 14 days.
We had our sports, our social time and we are getting a graduation in a couple of weeks, mostly thanks to our incredible teachers and school administrative staff.
We asked a few of the kids at Clarkesville Elementary what they like best about their teachers.
Kaden Jenkins, 4th grade
“She’s really nice. She doesn’t yell at us for doing stuff that she’s already told us not to do.”
Ethan Phasavang, 5th grade
“She helps us study hard and is nice to us.”
Maddox Anderson, 2nd grade
“I like that she is nice and she does a lot of stuff with us. She helps us with math problems we don’t know and she reads with us and I really like that.”
Briasia Trammell, 2nd grade
“She helps us do things that are hard. She does a lot of good things for us. She helps us learn fractions and things.”
Levi Wood, 1st grade
“She’s really nice and sweet and she is the best. When I raise my hand, she listens to me.”
Cameron Norman, pre-K
“She helps us learn and lets us play.”
Tessa Violet, 5th
“She’s loving, she’s kind and she cares about her students. She loves us, she takes us personally. She listens to us about stuff.”
In many cases, our teachers spend more time with our kids than parents during a given week, and it is their guiding hands that help them develop into the students and young people they are destined to be.
Thank you again to everyone who has taken the time to change the lives of our children.
