Due to the tremendous response to last year’s concert, the Sanctuary Choir and professional orchestra at First Baptist Church Cornelia will present “Homeward Bound: A Celebration of American Music,” Sunday, June 25, at 6 p.m. This musical gift to the community will highlight the music of America, both from our sacred heritage and popular culture.
The sacred portion of the concert will highlight several spirituals and by popular demand end with Mack Wilberg’s stunning arrangement of “Amazing Grace” sung by the choir and audience accompanied by the orchestra. The bagpiper also will return.
The second half of the concert will be a delightful time of sampling music from some of America’s leading popular music composers and arrangers such as George Gershwin, along with some stirring patriotic selections.
“I encourage you to use this event as an opportunity to invite your family and friends to attend and help us fill our sanctuary for a time of inspiration and fun, all to the glory of God,” said Randy LeBlanc, First Baptist Minister of Worship & Music.
